Summary
The ISO17025 standard describes the general requirements for the competence, impartiality and continuous operation of laboratories. ISO/IEC 17025 standard: 2017 is applicable to all laboratories that perform laboratory activities, including testing, calibration or sampling. Laboratory customers, regulatory authorities, accreditation bodies (AB) and others use the ISO17025 standard to verify or recognize the competence of laboratories.
Accreditation of a laboratory shows its technical competence and ability to test systems, products, parts or materials that the laboratory claims to be proficient in testing and reporting on, as well asISO17025 certification. The determinant of this is that the laboratory performs its work correctly and according to the standards and methods of the relevant tests. Good laboratories provide defensible results, having validation means that the results are defensible based on a known standard that does not change with personnel or environmental conditions.
